The search is still on for the UK's top young talent in an ambitious new television programme, Young Butcher of the Year 2009, which celebrates the millions of young British workers whose skills aren't the kind to win them a million pound recording contract.

.. Young Butcher of the Year is part of a new BBC Three series celebrating young trade talent across the country. It’s been dubbed ‘Chop Idol’ and it will celebrate our country’s young unsung heroes.
There are talent shows for dancers, singers and entertainers but what about all those who never see the limelight?

If you are a talented young butcher we want to hear from you. Or if you know someone who fits the bill please get in touch.

We are looking for someone who can be a true ambassador for their trade, who is aged 16-25 years, up for a challenge and wants to show the world their skills!

The Young Talent of the Year (Programme) is organised by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). 

There will be a separate selection process for each of the four categories: butcher, hairdresser, chef and mechanic. 

Applicants can only enter one category and only submit one application. 
The information given by persons submitting an entry form (Applicant or you) may be used in the Programme, should you be selected.

Selection process
Applicants will be selected at the sole discretion of the BBC and/or their representatives. 
Applicants agree to take part in the selection process and the Programme itself. 
This will include all production filming where required as well as promotion and publicity of the Programme. 
It will also include participation in any spin off series and content made as a derivative of the Programme.
Applicants agree to abide by the rules, regulations, terms and conditions of the Programme (Rules) which may be varied from time to time by the BBC.

The selection process period is expected to run from February 2nd 2009 to April 27th 2009 and will work in the following way:· Applications must be received by 1200 noon, 15th March 2009· Applicant must be between the ages 16-25 at the closing date· 

Upon successful application, you will be given a choice of attend an interview in either the north or south of the UK· At the second stage (filmed auditions), a panel including industry professionals will select up to 6 applicants to progress to our studio final, which will take place in the UK· 

The 6 finalists will be set tasks. Their performance in these tasks, as judged by our panel of experts will determine who wins the title Young ….. of the Year· BBC will arrange travel to and from the studio selection event for all 6 finalists and accommodation costs if required· 

Each stage of the process will be filmed and by applying to the programme you are also giving consent for this footage to be used in the final programme, although the BBC is not obliged to use the footage.
 
You will be required to complete further paperwork if you are selected for an audition. The decisions of the judges are final. Neither correspondence nor discussion concerning any decision shall be entered into.

The BBC reserves the right to alter, amend or cancel the selection process and/or the programme at its absolute discretion. 

It is under no obligation to make or broadcast any programme.

Applicants selected for the second stage or subsequent stages of any audition process may be asked to undertake not to accept any engagements in programmes similar to the Programme for any United Kingdom broadcaster other than the BBC prior to broadcast of all episodes of the Programme in the United Kingdom without the BBC’s prior written consent.
Entries

Applicants warrant that they have truthfully and accurately completed the Programme entry form and acknowledge and agree that the BBC may in its sole discretion disqualify an Applicant from any interview, any part of the selection process or the Programme itself at any time and at any stage if an Applicant supplies or has supplied any untruthful, inaccurate or misleading details and/or information and/or otherwise in breach of any of the Rules.

The application form will be available from 1200 noon 2nd February to 1200 noon 15th March 2009 and entries must be received by 1200 noon on 15th March 2009. All entries will be considered equally, regardless of when they were received (provided that they are received by the final deadline).

The BBC reserves the right to refuse any entry for any reason at its absolute discretion.

No entries will be returned and shall become the property of the BBC on submission. 
Each Applicant is advised to retain a copy if appropriate. 
All information supplied to the BBC will be dealt with in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 solely for the purposes of production of the Programme. 
Entry to the Programme by Applicants is done at their own risk. 
Attendance by Applicants at any audition or other event staged by the BBC and travel to and from any such events is at the Applicant's own risk and the BBC accepts no responsibility or liability in this regard.
Entries are made at an Applicant's own expense and the BBC shall not be liable to reimburse any expenses incurred in making an entry. 
Entries must not contain defamatory or obscene material and/or anything which is likely to bring the BBC into disrepute. 
Unless specifically stated unsuccessful Applicants in any stage will not be contacted by the BBC due to the large number of entries anticipated.
The BBC shall not be obliged to make use of any entry and shall not be liable for any loss of publicity or enhancement of reputation.
Publicity
Each Applicant warrants and agrees that he/she shall not be entitled to undertake any press, publicity or other discussions with any third party in connection with the application to be a contestant in or appear in the Programme.
The BBC reserve the right to seek and issue publicity on behalf of Applicants. Acceptance of these Rules is a condition of entry and receipt of an entry by the BBC constitutes each Applicant’s acceptance of and agreement to the Rules.
Production of the Programme

The production period is expected to be from February 2009 to June 2009. Applicants consent to being filmed and recorded by the BBC, where required for the Programme and consent to filming at the Applicant’s work place and home if deemed necessary by the programme makers. The Applicant will complete further paperwork for this purpose. 

Eligibility
All Applicants must be resident in the United Kingdom and must be legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom.
Applications from disabled people are welcomed and encouraged. The BBC will endeavour to meet any access needs for such disabled Entrants. 
Each Applicant warrants that he/she is between the ages of 16 to 25 years old. 
Any applicant under the age of 18 will be required to obtain a parental consent and will supply a completed parental consent form at the BBC’s request.
The following persons are not eligible to apply:
(i)   Any person who was employed by BBC or any of its subsidiaries on or after 01.02.2009
(ii) Any person who is not resident in the UK
(iii) Any person who is not legally able to work in the UK
(iv) Any member of the immediate family (including any live-in partner) of any person described in (i) above.
(v) Any person with a criminal conviction which has not been spent in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (other than driving offences which have not resulted in a ban or more serious offences).
